Favors

I wanted to do something fun. I thought a "build your own snowman kit" would be fun. I made one kit for each family. I used the same dough that was used for the hand print ornaments. Once they dough was made all I had to do was make the shapes that I wanted for the snowman's eyes, nose, mouth, and buttons.

Here is the recipe again.
Salt Bread Dough
¼ Cup Salt
½ Cup Boiling Water
1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
¼ Teaspoon Vegetable Oil (optional)
Food Coloring (optional)
Pour boiling water in a bowl and add salt. Add remaining ingredients.

Knead dough to desired consistency for crafting. If coloring dough with food coloring, work it uniformly into the dough as you knead the craft dough. Keep dough wrapped in plastic when not in use. If you have lumpy dough roll it out with a rolling pin.

Bake at 300 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes. It may take a little longer to bake. Completed ornaments may be painted, or brush with beaten egg and water mixture prior to baking or a darkened, shiny appearance.

Snowman eyes
I tried to get them nice and black but in the end painted them with black paint.

Carrot Nose

Candy Cane Mouth
My dough was a little dry. This did not turn out the way I wanted it to, but it will do the job.

Buttons

When everything was finished baking I glazed the pieces with modge podge that I had laying around. I let the pieces lay out for 1 week to get nice and hard.

I bought a cute tin at from an after Christmas sale for 75% off. I also picked up gloves and a hat for fifty cents total. This was a very inexpensive favor. I hope the guests enjoy it!

I never thought of turning the party favours into a family fun filled event! Clever idea! It can sometimes be something as original as this that makes your kid's theme party a success.
